Recent debate has surfaced regarding the anomalous--or unanomalous?--hotel prices in the Carlsbad, New Mexico region. This site compiles hotel prices collected on April 30th, 2015 for individual night stays in May 2015. Base prices of some hotels in surrounding communities are included for further comparison.
Rates for May 19th, a Tuesday, are selected to demonstrate an approximate weekday hotel rate:
Hotels that fall into `~30 miles away` are found in White's City and Artesia; `~70 miles away` is expanded to include Hobbs and Roswell. Yelp review ratings are taken as of April 30th, 2015 as well. Hotels with no rating are given a null rating (0), as the lowest Yelp rating possible is a 1.

No evaluation was performed for hotels outside an approximate 80 mile radius. Base rates (not including tax or any discounts) were selected. Day to day fluctuations occur, as some days likely have fewer rooms available. Additionally, prices closer to the beginning of May are less demonstrative of the "average" price as a few hotel sites generally increase prices if the booking is just a few days away; dates before May 6th fall within one week of this analysis. Finally, special events, like local graduation ceremonies, may especially skew some prices or result in sold out rooms.
